Bianca Jagger in Vogue UK 1974
When I was in high-school I read the Warhol Diaries which lead me to my Bianca Jagger obsession. I dreamed I lived in New York in 70′s and popped pills while wearing Halston with the likes of Liza Minnelli, Baryshnikov and the guys from T-Rex. I wanted late nights filled with sequins, satin and expensive champagne; white limo rides and coffee in the east village after three.
When I was 15 my friends mom gave me her silver Halston jacket from the 70′s and I got a bottle of Halston perfume for Christmas. I frequented the under age dance club in the city I resided in and tried to re-create the glamour of fallen debutantes and drugged out rockstars from the decades past. In my mind, my days are still filled with these decadent visions…intertwined with my need for peaceful days in the country running through fields in a flowy dress. What can I say…it’s a mixed up fabulous world in the mind of Darling.
Ashley Smith- Throw Away Your Orthodontist’s Number
When I was in elementary, I wanted braces so bad. I saw an ABC afterschool special about a girl getting braces…and after that I would stretch out paperclips and put them across my front teeth. My favorite babysitter had a retainer. I thought she was so cool. Unfortunatly I had perfectly straight teeth! Poor me.
Ashley Smith must not have seen that same show…and thank god. I adore her gap. what a mega babe. All you young girls? Maybe just let your teeth do what they might…
All Hail the King
F-Yeah James Brown. You give my life so much vigor and excitement. When I hear sing you make my body move in uncontrollable bouts of soul. Too much soul for a white-girl…but I don’t care. Let them stare at my wonky kneed Tina dance. You know what I’m all about Mr. Brown, you see the soul deep inside me. Happy Birthday in the beyond.
Sunday Morning Crush
Bobby Gillespie- You are dreamy, your music is not so bad either. I’m sure Jarvis won’t mind if we hang out and drink tea.
